A Cautionary Tale: My Encounter with the Djinn

This is a cautionary tale for anyone who does energy work.

I was in a situation where I came across a couple. They had walked by me, then went to one of my friends and asked, “She’s psychic, isn’t she?” My friend confirmed, “Yes, she is,” and they said they would love to talk with me.

So I went over and introduced myself. As I approached, the man looked at me and asked, “What are you?”

I said, “Um, that’s an interesting question. I’m a lot of things… but what do you mean?”

He replied, “Well, I can tell you’re a healer. But you’re something else.”

I noticed he was holding his arm and asked if he was in pain. He said yes. I offered to see if I could help reduce it, and he agreed. So I started to do what’s called a pain drain.

As I worked on him—about my third round—I was pulling the energy out while the two of them talked about books they owned and some of their spiritual experiences. Then the woman looked at me and said, “You astral travel, don’t you?”

I said, “Yeah, I guess I do.”

She then asked me to read her aura. I told her I don’t normally see auras, but I’d give it a try. The room was fairly dark, not well lit, but I paused the pain drain and looked at her. I could see a faint green glow at her brow, and then I saw a huge column of black energy going from the ceiling down to her crown. It was about the width of her shoulders.

I said, “You have an attachment.”

She responded, “Well, yeah, that’s my Djinn.”

Just then I saw movement behind her and said, “It’s right there.”

She nodded and said the Djinn’s name.

The man then told me that he had actually done a blood sacrifice to attach two Djinn to himself. He claimed those two Djinn had a baby, which he then attached to his wife because she had issues with frequent possession. He said he had bound the Djinn as “protectors.”

At that point, I was slowly backing out of the room, thinking, I don’t believe Djinn are something people should be messing around with. I told them, “Well, hopefully you know what you’re doing. It was nice meeting you,” and then I left.

By the time I was on my way home, my right wrist was hurting so badly I couldn’t even push the gear shift into drive with it and had to use my other hand. When I got home, I went to bed. The next morning before work, I was in my usual salt bath, and when I tried to get out, the pain in my wrist was so strong I could hardly push myself up. At work, I put some hot packs on it and within an hour the pain was completely gone.

I didn’t think much about it at the time. But shortly after, I received an email from the wife. She said their taxi had been T-boned on their way home. Then, the very next day, she was in another accident with a different car.

A day or two later, while talking with a friend, I mentioned the events and realized I may have disrupted the Djinn with the energy work. My friend agreed. I wasn’t overly worried since I had always kept my home energetically sealed against spirits.

However, over the following two weeks, a series of strange events began to unfold. On their own, each could be dismissed. But together, they painted a picture that required my immediate attention.

  • We suddenly started having over 50 flies a day in our kitchen—far more than usual.

  • A bag of fresh lemons I had just bought spoiled overnight.

  • My daughter stayed the night at our house on her way to Seattle; on her way back, her engine quit working.

  • My brother stayed with us and developed severe back pain; shortly after, my husband’s back went out as well.

  • Our washing machine stopped draining.

  • While cleaning, I found four winning scratch-off tickets, but when I tried to cash them in, they were expired—even though I knew I had purchased them within the month.

  • And finally, I misread a text from a friend, convinced it said something it didn’t. I responded based on my misunderstanding, and the fallout was severe. Their reply was cruel, and it ended our friendship. Even their spouse, who was experienced in dealing with paranormal beings, shut me out.

That was when I knew this was more than coincidence.

About the Djinn

Djinn are ancient beings often described in Middle Eastern traditions. They exist in a realm parallel to ours and, like humans, they can be benevolent, neutral, or malevolent. Unlike spirits of the dead, they were never human. They have free will and can form attachments to people—sometimes voluntarily, sometimes through rituals, and sometimes simply because they see an opening.

Many cultures warn against attempting to bind or control Djinn, because their nature is unpredictable and their sense of morality does not align with human ethics. They are tricksters, teachers, and sometimes tormentors.

Signs of a Djinn Attachment

  • Sudden confusion, doubt, or distorted perception

  • Physical discomfort: pressure in the head, solar plexus, or spine

  • Mood shifts, brain fog, or intrusive thoughts that feel foreign

  • Energy drains, exhaustion, or strange pain sensations

  • Technology or electronics acting strange around you

  • Sudden increase in pests (flies, ants, insects in unnatural numbers).

  • Rapid spoilage of food or water without explanation.

  • Strings of bad luck or accidents clustered too close together.

  • Unexplained physical pain or weakness moving from person to person.

  • Mechanical or electrical failures piling up one after another.

  • Distorted thinking or misperceptions (misreading messages, hearing words that weren’t spoken).

  • Relationship disruptions caused by miscommunication or unusual hostility.

  • Energy drains—constant fatigue, irritability, or feeling watched.

When several of these happen together in a short period, it’s a red flag that something deeper may be influencing your environment.

The Challenge of Evicting the Djinn

When it came time to confront the Djinn, I quickly realized it wouldn’t leave without a fight.

As I began the ritual, my voice suddenly grew so hoarse I could barely say the incantation. In the fourth room, the chain on the censer carrying frankincense and myrrh snapped, nearly spilling hot coals onto the carpet. In the next room candle went out on its own.

My cat, usually calm, followed me into every room, on edge and alert. And when the Djinn was finally leaving, I felt it physically shove me in the back as it passed. But I finished the ritual and resealed the door.

But the moment it was gone, everything shifted.

  • The flies vanished from the kitchen.

  • My husband’s and brother’s back pain disappeared instantly.

  • The washing machine started draining again.

  • And the heaviness in the house lifted—the air felt lighter, the space clearer, and peace finally returned.

The Lesson

This experience taught me that not every call for help is meant for us to answer. Discernment is vital in healing work. When someone carries attachments they have chosen—or created through ritual—it is not always our role to intervene.

The Djinn reminded me that curiosity can be costly, and that spiritual protection isn’t something to take lightly. Cleansing, grounding, and shielding ourselves is not optional—it is essential.

Above all, I learned that boundaries are not just about saying no to people. They’re about saying no to energies that do not serve our highest good.
